Concert Improvisation by Film Music Composers
The evening of musical improvisation will offer a unique combination of fragments of film compositions by three prominent personalities of the contemporary music scene - Jakub Kudláč, Jonatán Pastirčák and Ondřej Mikula. The concert will feature free improvisations based on their original film works, which will come to life in new, unexpected contexts.
Jakub Kudláč (*1978, Bratislava) is an experienced composer of incidental and film music, winner of the Czech Lion for his music for the film Krajina ve stínu. He studied composition at the Bratislava Conservatory and philosophy at Charles University, and received his doctorate at FAMU, where he now teaches. He has composed music for a number of award-winning films, including Zlatý podraz, Modrý tygr, Božena and Poslední závod.
Jonatán Pastirčák is a Slovak musician and producer, known in the music industry as Pjoni and in the club scene as Isama Zing. He studied cello and music production in London. He is a prominent figure in the Slovak alternative electronic scene. He has collaborated on several audiovisual projects, exhibited also in New York. He won the Dosky and Tatra Banka awards (2018) for his music for the production Antigona. He won the Czech Lion for his music for the film Arvéd (2022) and was nominated for the same award for the films Světlonoc (2022) and Citlivý člověk (2023).
