Marienbad Film Festival Awards Awarded!
A three-member international jury, a film theorist, and documentary filmmaker Andrea Slováková, Italian film historian Francesco Pitassio and dramaturgist of the Ponrepo cinema Milan Klepikov divided three equal prizes of the Marienbad Film Festival as best Czech experimental film. Those who won this year were: Michael Režová with her art documentary Chase (Štvanice), Michal Kindernay for his visual essay Transformation / Vapors / Melanosis and František Týmal, David Šmitmajer, and Jiří Rouš for their site specific project Taran.
Winners receive financial compensation of 10,000 CZK. Through this amount festival points to the fact that the request to support even if only short, independent experimental film at the State Fund of Cinematography, which only in the Czech Republic systematically supports experimental creation, is charged with this relatively high amount.
In addition, the jury awarded two Honorable Mention awards to Petr Skala for his lifetime contribution to the Czech experimental film and Viola Jezkova for her document Everything Has its Own Time.
